Legal and Ethical
This interactive seminar will provide clarity and address the real-life legal and ethical problems you face.
This meeting is intended to be interactive. We'd like to discuss areas of genuine ethical/legal concern, or exemplar difficult cases and situations you have experienced.
These could be general or built around experience of specific sorts of cases. If you'd like to propose a topic/ type of case for discussion, please email details to Professor Hugh Montgomery (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Please ensure that you avoid identifying patients and maintain appropriate medical confidentiality in doing so. The synopsis needn't be lengthy or detailed. Please note that discussion on the day is not intended to provide specific legal instruction about a specific case.
There will be talks by senior practising lawyers who are active in both medical litigation and defence describing real examples of successful medical litigation and why they arose. Also by legal and medical experts in deprivation of liberty and implications for intensive care.
