With liver disease and its complications projected to rise, clinicians from The King's Liver Unit will provide a comprehensive review of issues impacting on critical care. Topics will include management of acute liver failure; alcoholic hepatitis and the patient with cirrhosis; acute pancreatitis, and the post-hepatectomy patient. The obstetric session will cover maternal critical care including the causes of maternal mortality and morbidity, acute liver disease in pregnancy, sepsis, pre-eclampsia, postpartum haemorrhage. The lectures will be delivered by an obstetrician, an obstetric physician, an obstetric anaesthetist and intensivist who all have expertise in managing critically ill pregnant or recently delivered women.
