Travelling Fellowship
2010 Applications now closed.
2010 Travelling Fellowship was awarded to James McNamee, Antrium Area Hospital, Northern Ireland
The Society has a total of £5,000 available to go towards the cost of travel and subsistence expenses for any ICS members who wish to travel to an institution other than their own, either within the UK, or overseas.
Only one award per applicant will be considered. Depending upon the merit of the applications and value of the request one or more awards will be made up to the £5,000 available.
The Fellowship can be used to acquire specific clinical skills or research techniques not available locally, or to enable the applicant to use facilities not available in their own institution.
A written proposal of not more than 1000 words should be submitted using the application form (available soon), outlining the proposed use of the grant, approximate costs and the benefits accruing from the visit. Letters of invitation from host institutions should be attached.
In making an award, the judges will be influenced by the extent to which they feel applicants will gain skills or experience that will be of particular benefit to the UK intensive care community in the future. Proposals that merely outline a programme of clinical training, attachments or visits with no specific objective are unlikely to be successful. Salary costs will not be supported.
The award may not be used solely to attend a congress (overseas or domestic), nor may it be employed to support subsistence or travel of anyone other than the applicant.
The ICS Visiting Fellowships are open to members of the Society. Applications for 2010 are now closed and the decision will be made in September and communicated after the Council meeting in early September.
