Research and Clinical Practice Free Paper Presentations

State of the Art 2010

There will be an opportunity to present Free Papers at the Intensive Care Society’s prestigious State of the Art Scientific Meeting.  Authors should submit an abstract of their presentation to the Intensive Care Society Research and Meetings Committees by Monday 30th August 2010.

Accepted abstracts will be chosen for presentation either as a poster or as an oral communication at the State of the Art meeting at the London Hilton Metropole on the 13th and 14th December 2010. All abstracts presented will be published in the final programme for the meeting.

State of the Art 2009 award winners

The Eli Lilly Award for the highest scoring Research poster was awarded to Dr Virginia Newcombe, Cambridge, for her poster 'Early brain tissue oxygenation is related to selective neuronal loss following clinical head injury'.

The Gold Medal Award was presented to Dr Thelma Craig, Belfast, for her presentation 'Simvastatin reduces inflammation and improves clinical outcomes in ALI: results of the HARP study'.

The Research Free Paper Award was presented to Dr Andrew Conway Morris, Edinburgh, for his presentation 'Ventilator-associated pneumonia is characterised by elevated neutrophil proteases in the lung'.

The Clinical Practice Free Paper Award was presented to Miss Charmaine Buss, Nottingham, for her presentation 'Midazolam and brain stem testing'.
