Work Since 2003 - Leveraging Funds
To date, the ICF has contributed £500,000 into seed funding leading edge clinical trials. The success of these trials has led to a further £5 million from mainstream health funders for more extensive research; these grant giving bodies usually only providing funding where there has been a combination of a successful pilot and a network of collaborators in place.

Ambitious Plans
Over the next ten years the ICF has ambitious plans for its research programme and is developing a National Research Strategy and is implementing a network of eminent professors to manage the delivery of that strategy. Priority areas for research are agreed by consensus amongst critical care clinicians via the networks and forums set up by the ICF. This ensures that there is professional buy-in to the trials being undertaken and that the priority areas are agreed to be the areas with the most potential to benefit patients.
