Meeting Summary
Friday 9 April 2010
Churchill House, London
A 1 day lecture based seminar.
The first part of this seminar focused on updates on the evolving definitions and diagnosis of acute kidney injury, our ability to predict renal outcome and current evidence for the dose of renal support when indicated. This included recent data from consensus meetings and recently published original research. We then heard from a specialist in renal transplantation medicine who gave us a nephrologist’s view of AKI and how the recovery of the transplanted kidney may provide insight in to mechanisms of AKI in critical care. Finally we focused on the interaction of other organ failures with AKI. This included both the influence of other organ failures on renal function and how AKI may affect the function of other organs.
