This one day workshop provided an introduction to the use of chest ultrasound in intensive care by non radiologists with limited experience of ultrasound. 

 

What specific skills/knowledge will participants acquire during the event?

Potential benefits and limitations of ultrasound

Choice of probe and machine optimisation

Recognition of normal lung (pleural sliding)

Assessment of pleural collections including suitability and site for drainage.

Use of ultrasound to rule out pneumothorax.

How the gain competency in safe use of ultrasound.
